The olympic torch will be by Renfrew street on February 12.
Although no field trip will be organized by the School, kids will
be excused from school if their parents wish to take them to see this event.

Greg Mortenson Gift Package

Greetings PAC Parents,

Garibaldi Annex has had tickets to an evening with Greg Mortenson,
and three of his books, donated to raise funds for literacy at our school.

On the evening of our Christmas Concert there will be an opportunity
to purchase raffle tickets for this package. The package is for one adult and one student
and there will be an book signing by the author at the end of the evening.
The value of this donation is $106. The Greg Mortenson evening will take place
January 15th, 2010 at the John Oliver Auditorium. Tickets $5 ea or 5 for $20.

Please note: the draw will take place at the end of the Christmas concert social
and the winner must be present to claim the prize. poster attached

-government grants to PACs have been cut by half this year ($10 per child)
-start a PAC email list

Parent Led Holiday Theme Event for Garibaldi Students

I am organizing a parent holiday station event with December holiday crafts and activities for all children in the regular classes, VLN and Home Learners program. Parents will run stations for Garibaldi Students. Students will rotate to different stations in small groups. This will be a PIE event (Partners in Education)

I am looking for interested parents who are willing to help. If you would like to help, or have any questions please contact Mary-Ann (a home learner parent) at PIE has childcare for those parents who would like to help, but have younger children.

Update on funding: Grants have been cut in half this year, with the school receiving only $10 per student
Update on finances: (did not write down current balances)
Update on memberships – discussion and motion to renew DPAC membership: Hal, 2nded: Kate
Update on Food Day – scheduled for Thursday September 24th – discussion regarding integration of the garden and local food sourcing as part of the PAC lunches. Some concern posed regarding the implementation of the idea
Update on school numbers: presently there are 29 home learners, 58 full-time program and 66 VLN students enrolled at Garibaldi
