More Money in PAC Coffer$

More money has been found in our accounts due to a liability being counted twice. This is the kind of accounting I'd like to see at my house. Anyhow, the attached revision to the September 23 PAC meeting minutes contains the corrected balances.

Think City Survey

If you'd like to have a hand in shaping Vancouver's future, Think City, a non-profit, non-partisan group that works on city issues, has created a survey to understand the views of Vancouver's citizens. The survey includes such topics as:

  1. Do you want free public transit downtown?
  2. Does the city need to reform the at-large voting system?
  3. Should the city maintain rental units by banning condo conversions?

You can take the survey at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=AcjkJubF0JV4Hfl2CucoNg_3d_3d

The next PAC meeting will be held Tuesday October 21, 2008 – 6:30-7:30 PM in the Garibaldi Library.

GAIT Meeting September 24, 2008

A GAIT (Implementation Team) meeting has been called for September 24, 2008, from 4:00 - 5:30 PM, at Garibaldi School, 1025 Slocan Street.

Call Diane Wilmann for more information: Tel: 604 251 1225.

New Personnel

There has been a change in some of the teachers this year. Marilyn Jessen has retired and Deborah Meehan has left for another school for family reasons.
The new teachers are Anna Ligouri, grade 2-3-4 and Nadine Uzelac, kindergarten.

Vice Principal Anna Marie Nicoli-Mullet has moved to Chief maquinna. Bridget Browning has taken over as VP, coming from Grenfeld Elementary. Ms Browning will be a big asset as she has a great deal of experience working with community groups.

2008/2009 Student Count

It appears we have about 48 students this year: 13 in kindergarten, 17 in grade 1, 18 in 2-3-4. Curiously, the kindergarten has 11 girls and 2 boys. These numbers don't include the home schoolers (5? so far) and distributed learners. The distributed learners will not move to Garibaldi from Van Horne until the new year.

Sharon Gregson - New Website

Sharon Gregson, one of the VSB Trustees who actively supported the efforts to keep Garibaldi open, has a new website: http://www.sharongregson.com/. She is seeking the Vision nomination for the Vancouver School Board. Elections will be held this November.
